Cages/Equipment
Cages
Buying a cage is the biggest
expense you'll spend on your hamster. You will need to buy something
that will be big enough and suitable for the hamster you will be
buying. The starter wire cages that are seen in pets shops are simply
too small for most hamsters, especially syrians and should be the
absolute minimum for a dwarf hamster. Dwarfs will need something
that is escape proof, as these little hamsters can squeeze into
very small spaces. If you want to buy a wire cage for a dwarf you
will need to make sure that the bar spacing is small enough so it
can't escape. Good types of cages for dwarfs are aquariums and tubs.
