Aquariums - This type of cage is also cheap to buy especially ones that are no longer suitable for fish because they leak water. One disadvantage is they are very heavy making them hard to clean. But they are also very sturdy, so they can't get knocked over by another pet such as a cat. Aquariums also have a nice clear view so you can easily view the hamster. If you decide you want to add tubes you can buy special aquarium lids which will allow you to add these.

Tubs - Although these are not specially made for hamster these can be a good choise for a hamster cage. They are very cheap to buy, provide lots of space for your hamster to run around and are also lightweight. You will need to put a wire mesh over the top though to stop your hamster escaping or any other pets getting the hamster.
