Dwarf Hamsters
Types
of Dwarf
Campbell's Russian
Dwarf - This is the most common type of dwarf found in pet
stores. Shops will often call it 'Campbells' or 'Russian' dwarf.
They have a dorsal stripe running down the middle of their back
(not seen in albino campbell's) this can sometimes disappear as
the dwarf gets a little older or silvers.
Winter White Dwarf - These are sometimes called Siberian
dwarfs. They are very similar to the Campbell's Dwarf and are sometimes
mistaken for them because of their dorsal stripe. A dorsal stripe
of a Winter White appears more thicker than a Campbell's In the
winter their coat can turn into a white colour except for their
dorsal stripe. Although this doesn't always happen in captivity.
Roborovski Dwarf
- These dwarfs are the smallest and fastest of all dwarfs available
to buy. They do not have a dorsal stripe like Campbell's and can
easily be distiguished from other dwarfs by their white eye brows.
Chinese Dwarf
- The Chinese is not as common as some dwarfs that are available.
They are known as the 'mouse like' hamster because of their long
tail. This also makes them easy to tell apart from other dwarf types.
